What is invalidation? This video is a down-to-earth elaboration on invalidation. Invalidation is probably one of the most damaging forms of emotional abuse. It's a form of devaluation that can cause a person to lose confidence and self-esteem and deny or repress their own feelings and desires. It's very commonly used in narcissistic romantic relationships, family systems, and even workplace environments where narcissists and codependents sometimes have to comingle.
