IS CODING BOOTCAMP A SCAM?
Is coding Bootcamp a scam? In this video, I will discuss the pros and cons of coding boot camps based on my coding Bootcamp experience.
𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗦:
You will live, breathe, and eat code for 12-14 weeks. Coding Bootcamp courses are immersive.
72% of employers think boot camp graduates are just as good as a computer science college graduates.
You will need to learn fast. Instructors will push you through all of the concepts and big projects very quickly to get your first job.
Your classmates will keep you motivated. You will in a class with other people with the same ambitions and it's easier to keep going.
You will have the potential to build a strong network. Some coding boot camps have industry connections that make your job search easier.
𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗦:
It's expensive. The average cost of a boot camp is $12,000 for 12-14 weeks. You may need to take a loan.
Coding Bootcamp courses can move too fast. You will not be able to be proficient in time while learning in 3-5 programming languages and a framework in 12 - 14 weeks.
You could end up spending tons of money on a coding Bootcamp course on a very poor curriculum and bad instructors that don't care for students.
You may have to quit your job and take out a loan to survive during your Bootcamp courses. Most boot camp requires you to be there 40+ hours a week.
There's no guarantee you'll get a job right after your graduate coding Bootcamp. Most boot camps do promise job placement, but it's not because they give you a job. You still have to get out there and apply and interview. It all depends on the employer.
