The many uses of a Compressor: Glue compression, Sidechain, OTT, De-esser... - Sound Design Theory

Here's what I could gather about compressors in the shortest format possible. Absolutely essential for mixing in most situations, it is also incredibly useful for sound design. It can reveal the grit and texture hidden in any sound as well as tame the harsher frequencies. This video is my attempt at making a comprehensible overview of this multi-faceted effect.
