In this video, we'll be making white phosphorus using readily available materials. This phosphorus is an extremely dangerous compound and can result in serious health consequences if ingested or inhaled. Be sure to watch this video carefully and do NOT repeat any of this!

White phosphorus (P4) is a toxic element with interesting properties. It glows when exposed to air and thus was the reason for creation of the term phosphorluminescence (materials that glow when exposed to varying types of radiation, an electron beam or other things). The term phosphorluminescence is deceiving given that it does not apply to P4 itself which is chemiluminescent. Phosphorus can ignite on it´s own and is very reactive.
