Propionyl chloride is a suspicious chemical which is incredibly useful if you want to make esters while being as lazy as me. Do not try this at home as this reaction can release toxic gases. There are many routes to make carboxylic acid chlorides/acyl chlorides and this one can only be used to make a handful of acyl chlorides yet it remains useful.
