Ubiquiti Edgeport Router Performance/SLA Test Using an XG
The Technology Firm
Heres the amazon link to the router http://tinyurl.com/kgwm9ry
In my previous article (link) I showed you how I used NetScout’s Optiview XG’s (http://tinyurl.com/qdouval) Throughput Test to determine if a Ubiquiti 5 port Edgeport router (http://tinyurl.com/pba3sfz) would meet my client’s needs.
In this article I use another testing option within the Optiview XG for quality testing. The acronym has some slight variations but generally, SLA stands for Service Level Agreement (or Acceptance). It can cover bandwidth, packet loss or jitter of your carriers’ link.
For example, your testing might report that you have 5% packet loss or 3 ms of jitter but does that mean it would have a noticeable impact on your performance? Whatever SLA tool you use should minimally have a configurable screen where it can report a pass or fail.
