Narrow Path Devotions: Religion and Escaping Its Grasp On Us

John 3: 1-15

Today we are introduced to Nicodemus. A religious ruler, high up on the ladder of Judaism with its status and privilege, and yet someone who is smitten by Jesus. And yet, sadly, it is not enough yet to turn him into a disciple.

As we look at this story we see how hard it is not only for guys of his status to escape the grasp the religious system and privilege has on him, but also the escape it has on so many of us who cannot see into the mind and heart of the Spirit no matter how hard we try.
