Condor Sentry Plate Carrier Overview - Good as a weight vest, bulletproof vest or Airsoft

This is the Condor Sentry plate carrier. It takes medium and supposedly large SAPI plates. I think medium size I have is about the limit I would want to install though as it's a tight fit.

It has molle webbing, velcro loop webbing for patches and name tapes etc.

First weight carrying method: I wanted to walk with more weight, but I did not like the idea of a "weight vest" because it's useless weight, or weight only for the sake of having weight. So I set up a backpack full of gear, as heavy as I could make it, 3 litres of water, tons of tools and gadgets, some bits of survival gear etc. Weighed about 11 KG and it was all pulling on my back. I used to walk to and from work and after a couple years I did my sciatic nerve in on my right leg. After that I stopped walking as much and started catching the bus. Then we moved house and I had to actually get the bus due to the distance, at which point my level of walking halved.

Second attempt: I was offered a stab vest for review and I could keep it. It had plate pockets on the front and back, so I looked into maybe buying plates to put in it so that I could actually get some use from the vest instead of it being an under-the-bed-ornament. So the vest was already 2.5KG and I bought a single 2.4KG bulletproof plate and put it in the front. This worked but it kind of cooks you while you are walking around so much and also it was only the medium weight plate and I wanted more.

Third version of carrying weight: I bought this Condor Sentry plate carrier. It is light weight by it's self and breathable. I was able to obtain 6mm steel SAPI bulletproof plates, which were the only ones offered with the sapi angle cut shape at the top. Each weighs 3.6 KG each and when both are installed into the plate carrier it totals 8.05 KG. Perfect! Very comfortable and the weight does not impede me or my movement, it is FULLY BALANCED over my front and back etc. So rather than have a useless weight vest, at least the weights that are installed in this plate carrier are bulletproof to NIJ level 3 standard, so that is a cool added bonus feature.

People tend to buy these either for their dangerous jobs where they need bullet protection, airsoft people buy them, crossfit people buy them, people buy them for various reasons.
