To use Instagram Threads on desktop, open your preferred web browser and go to https://www.threads.net/
To log in to Threads, type in your username, email or phone number associated with your Threads account. Then enter your password and click Log In. Now you can scroll through your Threads feed just like you can on the app. Click the heart icon to like a post. Click the speech bubble to comment on a post. To repost a thread, click the circle of arrows. You can repost a thread as is, or quote it to get the option to attach your own comment before reposting. If you click the Share icon, you can copy a link to the threads post or copy an embed code.
If you click the search button in the menu at the top, you’ll be taken to the Threads search page where you can search for people you want to follow. If you find a profile you want to check out, you can click their name to go to their page. Here you can follow the account, and check out their posted threads and replies.
To share a threads post, click the new post icon in the menu at the top. Now you can type in what you’d like your post to say. The Threads character limit is 500, so you have a decent amount of space to share your thoughts. You can mention your friends in your threads just like you would in a caption on Instagram. You can also click the paperclip icon to attach photos or videos from your computer. If you’d like to limit who can reply to your thread, click Your Followers Can Reply, then choose whether you want replies to be open to your followers, only people you follow, or only accounts you’ve tagged in your thread. When you’re ready to share your thread, click Post.
Click the heart icon in the top menu to view your Threads notifications, including likes, replies, mentions, and new followers. Click the profile icon to check out your personal Threads page, where you’ll see your bio information, posted threads and replies.
That does it for our guide to using Instagram Threads on the desktop website. The app does have a few additional features that the website currently doesn’t offer, but we love that Threads can now be used on the web and isn’t limited to the mobile app.
