To use Check In on iPhone, first open the Messages app. Then, choose an existing conversation with someone you’d like to Check In with, or start a new conversation with the person you’d like to Check In with. Then, tap the plus sign on the left. Tap More, then select Select Check In. Your Check In will then be generated in your message text box. Tap Edit. Now you can choose for your Check In to be sent after a certain amount of time, or when you arrive at a specific location. If you go for the location option, tap Change to select the location where you’d like to Check In. You can then type in the name of the place, or a specific street address in the search bar at the top. At the bottom, you can select Small, Medium, or Large for the radius around that location that would be considered as you arriving there. If you want them to know when you’ve reached an exact location, select the small size, if just want them to know when you’ve reached the general area, select a larger size. Tap Done to set the location. You can also indicate how you’ll be traveling there. In your Message settings, you can choose how much information you want to share with this person in the event that you don’t Check In: limited information, or full. When you’re finished configuring your Check In details, tap Done. Then go ahead and send your Check In message.
Your friend will be notified when you’ve reached your destination. If you don’t reach your destination around the expected time, or if you don’t Check In with your friend before the time you’ve specified, and you haven’t canceled the Check In, they will be notified with the information you chose to share. You can easily cancel the Check In at any time.
