How to Get and Use Threads Video Notes - Automatic Captions & Bleeps!

The Instagram Threads messaging app has a new feature called Video Notes that can automatically add captions to videos where you’re talking. It can even detect and bleep out curse words! Watch this tutorial to learn how to use the Threads Video Notes feature.

If you don’t have the Threads app yet, you can download it for free from the App Store on iOS, or Google Play Store on Android devices. Then sign into the app with your Instagram account. Adding captions to your Threads videos is very easy. First, record a video by holding down the shutter button and saying whatever you like. You can also upload pre-recorded videos from your camera roll if you like, by tapping the gallery icon in the top right corner. Once your video has been recorded or uploaded, tap the walkie talkie icon to turn on the video notes feature. Captions of what you’ve said in the video will automatically appear on screen as you say them. If you used any curse words, they will automatically be bleeped out in the audio as well as in the caption text. If you notice that any words have been incorrectly written, tap the text to open the caption editor. Here you can easily edit the captions, correcting any errors and removing “ums” and other filler words if you like. If a curse word was missed, tap the bleep button to censor it out. When you’re finished editing the caption text, tap Done to exit the editor. You can edit videos made with Threads similarly to how you can with the Instagram story camera. Add filters, text, and stickers if you like. When you’re ready to share your video, tap the share icon on the right. Then, select the friend you want to send it to, or tap Your Story to share it to your Instagram story.

If you don’t see the Video Notes feature popping up in your Threads app, there are a few things you can do to try to get it. Firstly, make sure your app is updated to the latest version available. If you already have the latest version, trying logging out of the app, then sign back in and check again. If that doesn’t work, you can also try uninstalling and reinstalling the app. If none of these tricks work, the feature may not yet be rolled out in your region or to your account. Try these again in a few days and see if it pops up!
