What is the most common type of star found in the Milky Way?
Sven Piper
The most common star type found in the Milky Way is known as a red dwarf; Proxima Centauri, the nearest star to the Sun, is one of them. Red dwarfs are small, cool stars that are relatively dim and have a surface temperature of just a few thousand degrees Celsius. They are significantly smaller than the Sun, and they can have lifespans of tens of billions of years.
