H265 HandBrake NVEC test
Ropaga gaming
During these days I am making some tests at video transcoding. I record my gameplays using Nvidia recording service, but the file size is too big for streaming.
I am using HandBrake as it is a easy to use open source option. LBRY recommends using H264 encoding for videos, I guess that is because hardware decoding for that codec is widely available. H265 is more data efficient, but the support is much more limited as it is a newer technology. In my tests using transcoding acceleration using my GTX 1050, the transcoding time for both codecs is similar but H265 videos are about 30% smaller. Another disadvantage of H265 is that you cannot directly take a video snapshot as thumbnail from LBRY.
The video is nothing special, just a Realm Grinder gameplay, a free to play idle game available at Steam.
