In this video, I walk through the steps required to install the Xubuntu desktop in Ubuntu 20.04 LTS.

If like me you want to experience XFCE without backing up and installing Xubuntu from scratch, then these simple steps will have you up and running in less than 10 minutes.

After installing, you can choose between Ubuntu or Xubuntu as your desktop environment from the login screen.

Only one package is required to install and depending on your internet connection and hardware, you should be up and running very soon.

Commands:

sudo apt install tasksel

sudo apt update

sudo apt upgrade -y

sudo tasksel install xubuntu-desktop

It is advisable to change your window manager to lightdm during this process, as this is required for XFCE.
