Palestinians in West Bank React to Haniyeh Assassination

“They want an all-out war” — Palestinians in the occupied West Bank city of Ramallah protest the assassination of Gaza’s ruling group’s leader, Ismail Haniyeh.

Palestinian res!$t@nce groups have called for a “comprehensive strike” and mass protests have erupted across the West Bank cities. Gaza’s ruling group and Iran have blamed Israel, who is yet to comment.

As Palestinians take to the streets, multiple res!$t@nce operations have already been carried out against the Israeli occupation by youth and fighters in the West Bank.

Mustafa Barghouti, a Palestinian politician and the secretary-general of the Palestinian National Initiative, says Haniyeh’s assassination could spark a regional war. He warns, “What you have in Israel now is a fascist government in every sense of the word […] and Israel is now trying to push the whole region into a global confrontation. What Netanyahu did is a clear indication that he wants a regional war and he wants to drag the United States into a confrontation with Iran, not only with Palestinians.”
