Raspberry Pi - CNC Gcode to Stepper Motors using Python
Dr Pi
A look at the Python code to process CNC Gcode from a DXF file into instructions to send to the stepper motors.
The Gcode uses absolute values, (G90) so I take those values and get the changes between each line and use the delta to give to the stepper motor. Also, the direction, plus or minus needs to be allowed for.
The video shows the functions, the output, and a man drinking beer, and you'll also hear a high pitched voice interjecting with silly comments.
At the end I share some of my favourite YouTube channels, and explain why you don't see a video of the motors and CNC actually running.
If any of you have any comments then please do comment as these videos are time consuming to make, and I should really be doing the day job or studying, but you know what it's like when you have a 'homer' niggling away at you and you want to get on with it and push the boundaries of what you've done before.
If you're still reading then I take my imaginary hat off to you.
All the best, Dr Pi.
