What is Momentum ?
Physics Made Easy
Momentum is a concept used very commonly in Physics. You encounter Momentum in the classroom, in scientific papers and text books, in conferences, on TV, in movies, in scientific Youtube Videos etc.
You might already know that the momentum of a body is the product of its mass and its velocity. But what does such a product really mean? Do you have a good feel for what momentum represents?
This video attempts to give you just that using simple examples. It also touches a little on a cornerstone of Physics: the principle of conservation of momentum.
If you wish to dive a little deeper in how to use conservation of momentum, I prepared a more detailed version of this video. You can watch it here: https://youtu.be/FhQgK1Vtchs
Hopefully, this video will give you the keys to your own feel of what momentum truly represents…
The level in Physics required to fully enjoy the content of this video is beginning high school (Grade 11, 1ere scientifique)
