Spiderbot Esp8266 PCA9685 Hexapod Robot Part 1- The Build
Orionrobots
In this video, I use a NodeMCU Esp8266 controller with Micropython with an Adafruit 16 Servo controller (PCA9685 ) to build a Hexapod - a 6 legged robot!
The Hexapod came from hobbytronics.co.uk.
The code on github has now been updated: https://github.com/orionrobots/esp8266_video_series/tree/spiderbot_smaller_with_web/spiderbot - it now has a README for getting it working, and a web interface that I'm yet to make a video on. The servo library: https://github.com/orionrobots/esp8266_video_series/tree/master/python_libs
If you would like to find out more about building robots, my book "Learn Robotics Programming" at https://www.packtpub.com/hardware-and-creative/learn-robotics-programming is a great way to get started. In it, I show how to build a wheeled robot with sensors and a camera, getting the code to do interesting things.
In my previous video - I attempted to use a ws2801 LED strip to control servo motors: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U06c4os9Yuk Jonathans "Not Again" from building an esp robot with me: https://youtu.be/YbRDa24pBhY
IC Station, who sent me the NodeMcu base has offered my viewers a (limited) discount code for their site: icstation.com
