Project Trident Reborn With A Void Linux Base
OldTechBloke
Project Trident has its roots in PC-BSD and TrueOS, but following a move to Project Trident the developers decided to move from a BSD base to a Linux base, choosing Void Linux.
The distro comes with ZFS out of the box, and sports the Lumina desktop environment.
Small, lightweight, and with all the advantages that ZFS brings, it is a definite option for those who want an out of the box ZFS experience.
However, beyond that it is difficult to see it's broader appeal. I felt that the Lumina desktop was more than a little on the clunky side, although a user clearly has the option to install any desktop environment they chose post-installation. That said, there is very little documentation at the moment apart from the Void Linux pages - and they are going through something of a transition at the moment.
I came away from this first look feeling a little under-whelmed, but your opinion may of course be very different.
