openSUSE Tumbleweed: Net Install and First Look
OldTechBloke
It's sometimes been said that my videos tend to focus on deb and arch based distros and that I rarely look at rpm distros. It's true, so today I'm going to rectify that.
I've picked openSUSE tumbleweed because it's a rolling release rpm distro, similar to Arch, and I wanted to see what it has to offer.
My overall view is that it's a solid distro, but there are a few paper-cuts and annoyances, such as the lack of proprietary codecs post installation, that make it difficult to recommend to brand new users. However, those with a little experience can soon solve those minor things and end up with a great distro that allows for the installation of just about anything.
With btrfs out of the box, along with snapshots and the venerable Yast tool, the distro has a lot to offer
I hope you enjoy the video :-)
