Move Over Vim - The Nano and Micro Editors Are Here!
OldTechBloke
Vim is a brilliant and very powerful text editor, but the truth is that not everyone is comfortable using it and there are a number of much simpler alternatives available for people who only require a terminal editor for occasional light use.
Nano and Micro are two contenders here. Both are incredibly simple and offer the functionality that many people need, and who don't want to go through the process of memorising the content of the vimtutor.
Nano is old school, but its overall look and feel can be improved with a configuration file, and micro is a more modern implementation of a simple editor, but still very similar to nano in many ways.
In this video I do a quick look see at both nano and micro as they are probably more than powerful for most of the jobs that desktop users need an editor to do.
I haven't mentioned emacs here because, well, I've never used it and don't really have a use case for it.
I hope you enjoy the video :-)
