Back in the early days of the internet, it was pretty easy to make people believe anything you wanted. You could even convince them that a hole was drilled straight down into Hell.

In 1989, the Trinity Broadcasting Network ran a story about a strange drilling operation in Siberia. Allegedly, the Russians had drilled 9 miles down and found an unexpected large cavity. They lowered measuring instruments and discovered that the temperature was over 1800 degrees Fahrenheit… but what they heard down there is what shocked them. A heat resistant microphone picked up audio that sounded like the screams of tortured souls. This story freaked out a lot of people and the legend of “THE WELL TO HELLl” quickly spread.

In 1992, the Weekly World News tabloid covered the Well to Hell, but in their version, it took place in Alaska and 13 miners were killed by Satan himself as he flew out of Hell. Before you start digging in your backyard, the sounds were most likely altered audio from the 1972 film ‘Baron Blood’.
