What Machine Learning Application Did Jacek Karpiński Invent? #inventor #machinelearning
My Dark Path
After Jacek Karpiński created the innovative AKAT-1 analog computer, he earned the right to study at Harvard and MIT. Soon, he became a minor celebrity in computer science circles and was granted access to a highly confidential military research facilities, gaining insights into US advancements in artificial intelligence. Americans wanted him to stay in the USA. But Karpiński chose to return home. He despised communism but he driven by a hope that Poland would eventually be free, allowing his innovations to benefit his own nation. In 1964 he created the Perceptron—a breakthough in machine learning. It was a transistor-based neural network connected to a camera that recognized and learned shapes independently, like a triangle drawn on paper. This invention was pioneering, second only to work in the USA. How do you think other computer scientists and the government respond?
