The Federal Reserve, or the "Fed," is as complex as it is important. For an institution which sits at the center of the US economy, and which issues money for the whole world, its workings are arcane enough that few understand what it is and how it works.

Politico correspondent Victoria Guida explains what the Fed is, and how it's changed since the 2008 financial crisis, including through analysis of the Dodd–Frank Act. Have the measures which have been put in place succeeded at putting the Fed's power in check, or are they mere formalities which make the Fed even more difficult for normal people to understand?

We end with a group discussion as to whether the Fed is a corrupt body which prints money to benefit its benefactors, or whether it truly is an institution around which it's wise to structure an economy.
