Upgrading Drevo Gramr Keyboard with Gateron Clear Switches
Moo ICT
In this video I recorded the process of my new keyboard building project. I had this Drevo Gramr keyboard for a while and I always wanted to upgrade it to some lighter switches. The overall construction of this keyboard is plastic with a metal switch mounting plate. I sounds very nice but I am not a fan of the Key Caps font an Cherry Brown switches. I like linear switches and I built my last keyboard with Gateron Yellows which are amazing. I wanted to experiment with some lighter switches. I decided with the Gateron Clear Switches for this keyboard because its the lightest switch and also its linear so there is no bump on the travel of the switch. The spring inside the switch has a actuation force of 35g that's very light. The gateron reds are 45g, yellows 55g , browns 50g and blacks are 70g actuation.
I decided on changing the keyboard key caps to XDA profile Macaroon key caps i bought from amazon and they look absolutely amazing on this. Since these switches are thicker then the ABS double shot keycaps I had on the keyboard before, they sound more thokier and its more deeper sound.
I lubed the Gateron clears and soldered directly on the board with the LED lights. The whole process was really fun and I learned a lot from it all. Hopefully you enjoy my little project here. ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4wvFAKWfuoc
