This is a simple tutorial showing how I use relays with my Arduino and Raspberry Pi projects to control any device. A relay simply uses a low current supply (like Arduino, PIC etc) to control a high current device such as lights, fans, pumps etc.

You can simply use the blink example sketch to get started. All you need to do is send a digital on/off to the pin controlling the relay and you are all set.

Be very careful with mains power (110/230 Volt) as it quite simply will kill you. The end... If you don't know what you are doing, stick to low voltage DC circuits please.

+1000 OCD points to those who notice the flaw in the Eric CAD wiring diagram :) That actually wasn't intentional but after 6 takes of the bench footage- I wasn't about to consider doing it again...

As well the relay was ground side switched (I had to switch modules during filming arrrgh) so the state is inverted compared to the OLED. Function is the same and I didn't want to have to re-take the video. This actually illustrates quite well that some relays will indeed be ground side switched on the trigger pin. Bonus :)
