Welding an aluminium AGA kettle. It didn't go well!

We have an AGA cooker and have always used a Kettle that can be placed directly onto the hob when wanting a cup of tea. This way we don't use any electricity and I drink a lot of tea so in my eyes its a money saver. I was very upset to discover a few days ago the poor old kettle had sprung a leak.
