Swann SWNVK 885806 CCTV upgrade from a WD6TB Elements external drive unit
Mike Makes It
I installed a Swann SWNVK-885806 4K CCTV system at home a year ago and as standard it comes with a 2TB hard drive. As we have 8 cameras always recording in 4k resolution the drive only has about 3 days of the latest footage. In this video you see me strip out a WD 6 TB Elements Desktop External Hard Drive and install the drive into my CCTV system. The main reason for stripping the external drive and not buying a "ready to fit" internal drive is simply cost. I saved about £50 in doing it this way. There are disk drives specifically made for surveillance systems but as I am only running 8 cameras I don't think I will have an issue.
Prices have changed a little since the purchase but I saved about £50 at that time.
Update. system is running fine and I am now capturing over 9 days of "footage"
