Rusty Shafts on the Evolution R210 Mitre Saw

I just notice rust on the shafts of my Evolution R210 saw. I'm not happy. The saw has been stored in a dry garage and to be fair I've not used it for 12 months but none the less I wouldn't expect this. There are felt pads either side of the bearing housing for the shafts so I've lubricated them so every time I move the saw head the shafts will get a bit of a wipe. It might be they should be kept dry and are only for wiping off saw dust to prevent this getting into the bearings. Perhaps the oil (although very small amounts) will cause the dust to stick and cause issues. Time will tell but this way the shafts will be wiped with lubrication hopefully preventing further rust.
