Spring Management and Inspection of My Honeybee Hives
Michael Peterson Backpacking
Doing some spring hive maintenance on two hives that I started last summer. Both hives were swarms that I captured and left to do their thing for the entire season, only giving them extra frames as they needed them. After several years of struggling w honeybees, trying to manage them w a non-chemical, natural way, I’d let several parasites, and disease get out of hand. What had been as many as 50 hives, soon dwindled to zero over the course of several years. I thought I was done w bees, until I received the calls of panic, when people discovered the swarms clustered on their properties . So ..... here I am ... back where I started almost 15 years ago . 2 hives of honeybees. I don’t expect to expand to the numbers of hives I once had, but it is nice to know that some pollinators will be around for my garden . ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bFFGqHDqJJQ
