Parametric Calculus: Tangents: Example 2 Part 1

In this video I go over another example on determining tangent lines to parametric curves and this video I look at part 1 at finding tangents to a cycloid. Recall from my earlier videos that a cycloid is formed by tracing a point on a circle that is rotated about a straight line. In this part of the example I look at the tangent line to the cycloid curve when the angle is pi/3, or in other when the circle has rotated 60 degrees (which is the same as pi/3 radians). The resulting equation of the line requires the exact trigonometric ratios for pi/3, which I show a quick way to figure these out. This is a great example on determining tangents to parametric curves, as well as using trigonometric and trig identities to simplify functions, so make sure to watch this video!
