How to Validate an IP Address Using Java (Simple)

Greetings, in this tutorial we shall be looking at how we can validate an IPV4 address using Java. In this tutorial we will be validating the format and will be using this format for a valid ip:

x.x.x.x

Each octlet (x) is an integer between 0 and 255. No 0 padding at the start of any octlet is allowed.

In this IPV4 validation tutorial, we firstly count the dots. If there aren't 3, we stop and say, this ip is invalid. After we put each octlet into an element of an array.

We check if each element is a number between 0 and 255 and that it has 0 padding. If at any point, the octlet we are checking fails any of the ip validation rules, we stop and return a false as this ip address is invalid.
