The first step to adding a password to a zip file is to download WinRar. This software will let you create ZIP folders or Files with passwords. Then you right click on the file or folder you want to password protect and click on WinRar, then Add to Archive.

Then make sure ZIP is the selected archive format. Then click on set password. Then you need to enter the password you want to use to protect your zip file.
