U-Mask tutorial / How to create an emergency refill using a FFP2 foldable mask
Jolla-Devices: Sailfish OS and Tech videos
The Refill of my U-Mask has reached the end of its life. While you wait for an original Refill to arrive, you can create an emergency refill from foldable FFP2 masks. I had my purchases at the beginning of the pandemic, and I decided to try!
Use the Refill as a reference shape and precisely cut the FFP2: the outer layer of the U-mask will contain it just like with the official Refill.
Of course all my support goes to U-mask - this is a bit of a geeky and a bit of an artisanal experiment. The important thing is to try on the mask and check that it fits well and there is a suction effect on the breath, without big drafts.
// IMPORTANT // This emergency refill doesn't have the antiproliferative / self-sanitizing resistance features of the original U-mask Refill, so you will have to replace 'this experimental FFP2 refill' every 1-5 days depending on the number of hours worn! Following many sources these FFP2 should be changed after one day, if used continuously in a contaminated area.
What do you think? Did you bought the U-mask?
