dmenu is the best! Why am I using rofi???
James
Short answer: I wanted a little more visual pizzazz after I changed my system's theme recently. rofi has a lot more (easily configurable) settings when it comes to looking good. Though I am a simple guy - I really only want to use rofi as a stand in for dmenu so I use rofi -dmenu
. I don't often touch the other built-in functionalities (window switching, connecting to known ssh hosts, etc.) which really shouldn't exist because they are easily accomplished using scripts + the way dmenu
(rofi -dmenu
) operates. However I'll let it slide because of the history of rofi as a project, it came from a window switching program so it doesn't make historical sense to remove that from the built in functionality. Still can't help but wish rofi was just a "suckmore" (real config files, unlimited LOC) dmenu though. Cheers!
