New Horizons Modding - The Basics
inconsistent
There aren't many tutorials on modding Animal Crossing, and the ones that do exist might not give you the information you need, or written in a way that makes no sense. This video, and future videos in the NH Modding series will go over various aspects of the game and how to mod it.
Kuriimu to edit the dialog, Blender to edit the models, Open Revolution (or Citric Composer) to change music, and of course Switch Toolbox to extract and create archives of the game to make these things possible.

notes: When creating the romFs folder, it must be called exactly that: "romFs". I made a typo for the Title ID of the game. It should be "01006F8002326000", and not "01006F8002326800". Basically, just change the 8 to a 0. The updates shown in NXDumpTool aren't numbered the same in game. For example, update 2.0.5 of Animal Crossing will show up as 1.11.0 in NXDumpTool. If you have the Happy Home Paradise DLC, it needs to be dumped separately from the update (as DLC content doesn't share its romFs data with the base app). This means you have to dump twice, first the base game with the most recent update, then the DLC afterwards. If you have the Happy Home Paradise DLC, any mods for it must go in "01006F80023273E8".
