1. Log into the Linux device
2. Execute the following commands in a terminal: # update software repositories sudo apt update # install necessary packages for https apt calls sudo apt install apt-transport-https ca-certificates curl gnupg-agent software-properties-common # add docker GPG key curl -fsSL https://download.docker.com/linux/debian/gpg | sudo apt-key add - # add docker software repository sudo add-apt-repository "deb [arch=amd64] https://download.docker.com/linux/debian $(lsb_release -cs) stable" # install docker sudo apt update sudo apt install docker-ce docker-ce-cli containerd.io # create a docker group sudo groupadd docker # add the current user to the docker group sudo usermod -aG docker $USER
3. To run a basic Docker container, run the following command in a terminal: sudo docker run hello-world
4. Docker will download the hello-world container and execute it, displaying following output: Hello from Docker! This message shows that your installation appears to be working correctly. To generate this message, Docker took the following steps:
   1. The Docker client contacted the Docker daemon.
   2. The Docker daemon pulled the "hello-world" image from the Docker Hub. (amd64)
   3. The Docker daemon created a new container from that image which runs the executable that produces the output you are currently reading.
   4. The Docker daemon streamed that output to the Docker client, which sent it to your terminal.
