VOLTAGESHIFT TDP To use VoltageShift you need to allow the use of custom kext (drivers) and the driver needs root permission - which is super admin privileges on Mac, so make sure you're comfortable with this, before continuing.
So first, restart your Mac into recovery by holding down the Command+R keys on boot.
Go to Utilities - Terminal and type in. csrutil enable --without kext
Now you either build the project yourself, or download the pre-built library.
The kext file needs root permission - which is super admin privileges. sudo chown -R root:wheel VoltageShift.kext
To read the current setting ./voltageshift read 0x610
This will give you a value like this Default 0x4283e800dd8320
Which decoded means the following 0x428 [3e8] 00 dd 8 [320] 0x428 [PL2] 00 dd 8 [PL1]
PL2 is the short term Turbo Limit PL1 is the long term CPU Power Limit
The values are in HEX so 3e8 = 1000 in decimal 1000/8 = 125 Which means the PL2 is 125W
Armed with this knowledge I personally use a PL2 limit of 60W and a PL1 limit of around 30W.
