So funny story. The internal USB 3.0 header on a HP Z440 isn't standard pinout. Potentially the data lines are in the same spot but the +5V and GND lines aren't the same. More testing is necessary but I think it is solvable. I may need to do some more surgery on the original front panel. The question is how much would you be willing to pay for either a premade bypass jumper or an adapter cable that would let you use your case's front USB 3.0?
