The solution to using 208V only battery backups in a 240V homelab (Buck boost transformer)
Computers Cats and More
So I have been struggling to figure out what to do with an APC UPS I have wanted to use that is 208V single phase only. The solution is a buck boost transformer that can lower the voltage to a usable level. Basically this transformer drops the voltage in 16V increments allowing me to get closer to my target voltage. Now because of this I can use higher end battery backups meant for data centers without having to spend money on a more expensive 3000VA unit that is 240V capable. This is for my Dell rebranded DLA3000RMT2U which is basically a SMT3000RMT2U.
Also just to state the obvious be sure to work with a qualified electrician when sizing and picking one of these transformers. Even if your scenario is exactly the same you may need a different setup. ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vUPDG3-AO-w
