Sony DM-IP500 unlocking configuration is protected (read only) in the RM-IP setup tool

So to unlock the config you need to put the controller in "update mode" under the maintenance menu. Once done exit update mode and you will be good to go. For some reason the manual doesn't do a very good job making it very clear.
