I think it is finally time to upgrade and redo my server rack
Computers Cats and More
Well the question is what should I do? For sure the switches are moving to the back. I really don't want to spend money if I don't have to. There are some cool things I would love to do if I was willing to spend money though. I do need to get my Sliger NAS and R730xd going and racked. Also finally adding the auto transfer switch to the rack. Might add another 1000VA battery backup for networking only as well.
List of what's in it top to bottom for people who are curious:
- Raspberry pi running piehole
- Mikrotik router
- Juniper EX3300-48P (Primary switch)
- Random Dell switch
- Dell C6320 4 node server (Was supposed to sell this years ago but one node died and I got mad and gave up on it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sKrrqRpdrUE)
- R730xd (Unconfigured bought a year ago to replace primary server. https://youtu.be/rlOZd8cIXig?si=zikXzma-q9XOEEqu)
- 2x Dell rack consoles
- 4U rack drawer that stores empty boxes...
- Rack PDU for things that don't always need power but somehow is alway on.
- Old F5 networks device I gutted and turned into a rack shelf. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N5F7LCM3PXA)
- Main R720 dual E5-2670 v2, 256GB RAM, 13TB SSD, Tesla M40 (Main NAS and also runs random VMs for testing. Used to do gaming on it too.)
- Backup R720 dual E5-2630, 128GB RAM, 16TB HDD (Basically my primary backup NAS but poorly configured)
- Test box R720 Specs unknown right now (This was so I could do stupid things and random testing without having to shut down the primary server.)
- R520 I gutted and turned into a custom TrueNAS box (It's an abomination https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DX0Fd60axNg )
- Game server R720 dual E5-2670 v2, 64GB RAM, 300GB HDD (Hosting a game server for someone.)
- 1000VA, 1500VA, and 3000VA APC UPS (I can't use the 3000VA UPS because it is 208V only and I have 240V :( I need to get a buck boost transformer to step the voltage down but not sure how to size it properly...)
