Nested If Actions Shortcuts
David Allen
Shortcuts in iOS is just a fantastic way to automate your iPad or iPhone. There's loads of actions to let you do all sorts of things with your data and with your device. It's great to add programming types of actions to get proper automation, The shortcut will do one thing with one response and something different with another input. You could limit the responses by using lists, dictionaries and menus or you could make use of IF statements. The shortcut looks at what date is being passed and will respond in a unique way depending on the parameters you give the action.
In this example I set it up so that it speaks one text if the input is yes. Something else if the answer is no. Then I used a nested if action to vary what happens based on another Ask For Data from the shortcut.
The shortcut asks what you think about a statement on Trump. It has a reply if you say yes. If you say No, the shortcut asks another question. Depending on who replies there is two options.
Then I still have one more Otherwise/Else to use to take into account if the respondent replies neither Yes or No. So the responses takes care of Trumpy supporters, those who are not and people who are not sure.
This example tries to show you how to construct a nested set of IF actions.
