How to Install Elementary OS VirtualBox Guest Additions | Step by Step Guide

In this video, I will show you how to install VirtualBox Guest Additions for Elementary OS. Elementary OS can be downloaded at a minimal cost, and Virtualbox is a free virtualization system by Oracle, both links are below. Elementary OS has risen in popularity over the last year because it's a fast, open, and privacy-respecting replacement for Windows and macOS. Having used it over the past few weeks, I completely understand why it's favourable by so many users. The Guest Additions offer the following features: Mouse pointer integration, Shared folders, Better video support, Seamless windows, Generic host/guest communication channels, Time synchronization, Shared clipboard. And Automated logins.

Commands used: Once in the terminal, we're going to update your software packages: sudo apt-get update;sudo apt-get upgrade;sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

Install the required packages for building kernel modules: sudo apt-get install build-essential module-assistant

Prepare your system for building the kernel module: sudo m-a prepare

Create new folder, mount drive use the following command: blkid sudo mkdir /media/cdrom sudo mount /dev/sr0 /media/cdrom cd /media/cdrom sudo sh VBoxLinuxAdditions.run

When complete, reboot the system with: sudo reboot
