03 - Serve an HTML File - Basic Node and Express - freeCodeCamp Tutorial

We can set up a route to serve a specific HTML file, which is very useful for building websites. We can call the sendFile() method on the response, giving it the absolute path of the html file.

Concepts: sendFile() Transfers the file at the given path. Sets the Content-Type response HTTP header field based on the filename’s extension. Unless the root option is set in the options object, path must be an absolute path to the file. https://expressjs.com/en/api.html#res.sendFile

__dirname The directory name of the current module. This is the same as the path.dirname() of the __filename. https://nodejs.org/docs/latest/api/modules.html#modules_dirname

app.get() Routes HTTP GET requests to the specified path with the specified callback functions. https://expressjs.com/en/5x/api.html#app.get.method
