A hook is something that makes your game unique and that usually has not yet been seen in other games. Something that makes your game stand out from the 700 hundred games published on a daily basis. It can also be called unique selling proposition or USP.

The hook is used as the main component to market your game, to people interested and encourage them to want to try your game.

In an elevator pitch to a publisher or an investor, the hook would be what makes you and your game special.

Why do you need a hook for your game?

• To stand out from the crowd and get people interested and buy your game • For press and social media to talk about your game • For people to keep coming back

How to create a hook to get people interested in your game?

• Define your target audience • Identify the area of your hook • Make it clear • Check if you can create more than one hook

What are some tactics to hook users once they played your game

• Progress • Loss Aversion • Envy • Scarcity
