A new GODOT Game Engine Showcase & Examples: PLANET PANIC (Puzzle Game)
Continuing to what we think is the best way to showcase a technology, through its games,, and in this case for the GODOT GAME ENGINE; with a small game created for the Gotm.io Jam #3, and a small puzzle game where you play as the sun and planets

Our honest feedback
It is never easy to choose games to be showcased as examples on an engine, and especially with the GODOT Engine which has thousands of developers making games and uploading in pretty much all game portals.
We have selected this one for its proposal of playing with the sun, planets and gravity, which was a concept very similar to a game that we tried to develop a couple of years ago.
The gravity is actually not playable, because you can move freely the planets around their orbit, and spit fireballs with the sun to the threatening asteroids that are heading toward the center of our small galaxy in straight line ( maybe it could have be more fun to have different paths). The mechanic of spiting fireballs very quickly becomes unused as it is very difficult to use, and doing so, you expose the planets to the impact of the asteroids, as you don't have time to do both things.
After a couple of tries, it becomes more than evident that you only have to protect one of the planets, try to get all the powerups that will create new planets, and make your best to avoid the asteroids.
At this point in the game, it becomes boring, because it is always the same thing at the same speed and there is no motivation to move forward. The game graphics and animations are cute, and could have been leverage as to have more variety in the game.
Nonetheless, it runs smoothly even in a browser, the visuals and graphics are cool and the idea is original, with a lot of potential opportunities in case the developer wants to make it grow into a full game.
The game can be found on itch.io https://teamapplepie.itch.io/planetpanic
