We are starting a new section showcasing GODOT game engine games, as to show game developers in doubt of which tool to choose, to have a glimpse of the capacities of the tool, and that way help in taking a better and faster decision about it.

In this case a very interesting game STAR TROOPERS A TOP DOWN game where you must free a space station from Robot Invaders.

Our honest feedback

The game has cool pixel art artstyle with great animations and a great soundtrack to put you in the correct mood. The gameplay is straightforward to learn, being the main problem, the impossibility to redefine the controls to match your preferences.

From a point of view of gameplay, the size of the hitboxes between the enemies and the player make it somewhat unfair, as the enemies are able to hit you with just a small part of the body showing behind a corner or a box, while you are not able to hit them in the same situation, and you have to be face to face with them to be able to kill them.

Their range of action is also very large, and they are able to detect you and fire at you as soon as you get into any room, which makes you to actually move forward as fast as possible to try to get into a more fair position. Nonetheless, the game is very fun to play and can actually grab you trying to play for a couple of minutes more.

In our case, since we try to have these showcase videos below fives minutes we had actually to trim down the video ;)
