Continuing to what we think is the best way to showcase a technology, through its games,, and in this case for the DEFOLD GAME ENGINE; with a very interesting 2.5D platformer that is a really great source of reference as the source code is available on github.

In the case of the game, a we are looking a really cool and high standard cooperative shooter with an impressive pixel art style.

Our honest feedback A very interesting prototype for a slasher 2.5D platformer game with 2D animations and some of the main building blocks of a game of this genre, like Levels loader, the hero controller, monsters and basic AI logic. Gamepad and keyboard binding supported. LUA.

The demo itself is not very big, it includes a simple level with ambient lighting and a couple of enemies that attacks the player, that is able to attack and to dodge some of the attacks.

The interaction with the elements of the level is limited as although some props are placed they are not interactable and you can not affect them. Nonetheless, it is a great source of references as the source code is available on github and can help people wanting to make a 2.5D game to get some insights on how it can be done.

Defold is a free to use, source available, 2d/3d game engine with a developer-friendly license. Defold is owned and developed by the Defold Foundation. It was originally bought and used by King Entertainment, which later on gave it back to the Defold Foundation. King still uses the game engine in some of its games.
