burping any cooling system
Ed Wiget
My heater core has had a very slow leak as long as I've owned this jeep. It's a PITA to replace doing it right takes about 1-2 full days or you can cheat and weaken the structural system. Since it's a very slow leak, it's easier for me to just add coolant a couple times a year and that means burping the cooling system too or the heater won't work except at idle. Air compresses from water and air bubbles will never move in a sealed system so the only way to fix that is to burp the system. It can be messy even when using a burp kit. But this is how I've done this with almost 35 years experience doing auto repairs (ASE Master, I used to work for dealerships but to be fair I haven't in about 25 years but I still diy everything at home)
